The Monument Music and Arts Festival and Bobby Cato present : The Green Carpet Affair

This Wednesday, August 25th, in the historic Eastern Market's North Hall, Monument will bring you The Green Carpet Affair, our third benefit to spotlight and assist a local non-profit. While previous events have been loads of fun and done all kinds of good (see below), this event is on another level.

We're talking free beer from California's premier Lagunitas Brewing Company. We're talking a performance from GRAMMY Nominated progressive hip-hop artist Christylez Bacon. And we're talking free organic food from DC's Occasions Caterers, DJ sets from W. Ellington Felton (DJ Dub El), a live art installation from Jay Coleman, and a handful of surprises we're not going to tell you about yet.

The Green Carpet Affair is more than a social gathering though: it will be a platform for action, inspiring residents of the District and beyond to reduce our area’s carbon footprint through simple everyday actions and long-term initiatives. The event draws you music fans together with local businesses, innovators, and neighborhood leaders to network, socialize, and discuss new opportunities in the local green scene.

All proceeds will be donated to DC Greenworks, a homegrown 501(c)3 that serves the community through green collar job training and efforts to restore, protect, and enhance the area’s environment.

And did we mention Lagunitas is providing delicious brews? SPREAD THE WORD.

Where: Eastern Market's North Hall:: 225 7th Street, S.E. WDC
When: Wednesday August 25, 2010 6pm-9:30pm
Suggested Donation: $12.00

Use of the North Hall for music events is counter-productive until the build-out of the room is completed. The North Hall is a shell, with an overly-reverberant interior that buries music. Even amplified or loud speech is incomprehensible there. Please use this opportunity to point that fact out to community leaders -- if they can hear you.
