This weekend my friends and I will dine at a few of my favorite restaurants in the city of Jose Andres .
All of the digs are taking part in the Inauguration revelry with a unique culinary fundraiser, benefit dinners, extended hours and special Inaugural menus. Restaurants will be open Sunday, January 18th from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., on Monday, January 19th from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. and on Tuesday, January 20th from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m.
- José Andrés and THINKfoodGROUP extend their support of DC Central Kitchenminibar by josé andrés. Foodies will have the opportunity to mark this historic Inauguration with a memorable meal at one of the nation’s most exclusive restaurants. For the nights of Sunday the 18th, Monday the 19th and Tuesday the 20th, minibar by jose andres will be open and offering the “Feed the Soul, Support the City” dinner for $444.44 per person to benefit DC Central Kitchen. The menu includes a unique wine pairing prepared by sommelier Jill Zimorski. Guests will receive a signed copy of José’s new cookbook Made in Spain and a signed copy of DC Central Kitchens new cookbook, Feeding the Soul of the City, signed by Robert Egger. with three nights of benefit dinners at THINKFoodGROUP will donate half the dinner price to DC Central Kitchen. - To kickoff the inauguration festivities, Café Atlantico will welcome celebrated Mexican artist and member of “Artists for Obama” Rafael López, creator of the “Voz Unida” portrait of President-Elect Barack Obama, for a special signing. On Saturday, the 17th from 12 noon to 2 p.m., López will be at Café Atlantico to sell and sign his iconic posters and calendars, ranging in price from $25 to $300, featuring the soon-to-be President. Café Atlantico will also offer a 3-course prix-fixe Inauguration Celebration menu January 19th - January 22nd for $25 for lunch and $44 for dinner. (405 8th Street, NW; 202.393.0812)
- Inauguration Celebration menus are being offered at Jaleo, Oyamel and ZaytinyaOyamel will offer their signature hot chocolate to-go for $5 to keep spectators warm.
