I've been to Oktoberfest. Yes, THE Oktoberfest in Munich, and thus I can tell you first hand nothing you will ever experience here in the states will compare. And just like the huge mug above, I actually stole one on my last trip there and brought it back to the states with me. Note to self........... don't steal while in other countries at beer festivals. I'm not a beer drinker, but I absolutely love Paulaner and only in Germany or at Brickskeller to I deem it worthy to consume.
But this Saturday you can strap on your lederhosen and gear up for Capitol City Brewing Company's Ninth Annual Oktoberfest Beer Festival at The Village at Shirlington in Arlington.
With an additional ½ block of newly developed space along the Shirlington streetscape, this year's Oktoberfest anticipates more than 4,000 guests to drink and sample 60 different beers of the world's great ales and lagers. Capitol City Brewing Co. will serve traditional German favorites including Bratwurst and corndogs for the kids and also feature Oktoberfest Lager, a popular seasonal favorite. Many popular Shirlington Village restaurants will offer their culinary favorites all afternoon and early evening along the streetscape.
Authentic music and food will be provided by Washington Sängerbund Choral G roup and Orchestra. 12:00 - 7:00pm. $25 per person. Free for non-drinkers. The Village at Shirlington: 2700 South Quincy Street, Arlington, Virginia. For more information, call 703.578.3888.
