Nonprofit of the Week: Healthy Living, Inc. Join Ripple, The Source and Pearl Dive for a culinary feast December 9th

Healthy Living, Inc.  is a non-profit that provides nutrition, health and wellness based programs for under-served communities in Washington, D.C.  Founded by Juliette Tahar in 2004 their mission is simply, “to educate people of all backgrounds in how to plan and prepare simple healthy meals” and “raise people's consciousness about food--its cultivation, history and nutritional value.” Tahar was born of French parents and spent her childhood in West Africa, where fresh ingredients were in abundance.

This lead to a passion for sharing knowledge and a natural foods culinary career. While training women in transitional housing how to cook healthy food, she saw first-hand the limitations of the programs and facilities serving communities in Washington, D.C,  Since 2004, Healthy Living Inc, has served thousands of individuals through collaborations with the D.C. Department of Health and D.C. Central Kitchen Healthy Corner Store Initiatives, N St Village, So Others Might Eat, Calvary Women Services, St. Coletta of Greater Washington, The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington and many more.

Join them  on December 9th, along with Chefs Scott Drewno and Russell Smith  of The Source by Wolfgang Puck, Pearl Dive Oyster Palace and RIPPLE for a culinary event to raise funds for their program. Guests will enjoy their food creations,  an open wine bar, charity raffle, and established guest speakers in the fields of nutrition, community activism and government. Music by DJ Alizay and Underdog.
