Citi Open Coming to D.C. this week



The 2013 Citi OpenSM hits the district July 27 through August 4 at the William H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park. The The main draw also includes the world No. 2 pair of Austrian Alexander Peya and Brazilian Bruno Soares, who have won six ATP titles together, as well as the No. 5 ranked doubles player Rohan Bopanna of India and his partner Andre Begemann of Germany. Fans can catch the action and participate in a number of special events throughout the week, including:


USTA Member Appreciation Day Monday, Jul. 29 Gates open9:00 a.m.
USTA members receive a two-for-one discount on reserved tickets for the day’s session (limit four [4] free tickets per person). This discount can be redeemed with a membership card at the box office or on Ticketmaster using a USTA discount code provided in the July USTA Mid-Atlantic newsletter.

Corona Extra Tailgate Tuesday, July 30 Matches begin 2:00 p.m., event begins 6:00 p.m.
The 20th Annual Corona Extra Tailgate Party is open to the 21 and older crowd who loves to have a good time. Tickets to the event include unlimited Corona Extra, food and beverages, tailgate games such as cornhole and ping-pong, sports trivia, a Corona Extra photobooth, a live DJ, special player appearances, and tickets to theTuesday matches.

Junior Team Tennis Day Presented by KIND Healthy Snacks Wednesday, Jul. 31 Clinic registration opens 12:00 p.m., matches begin 2:00 p.m.
Junior tennis teams and individuals from all over the region are invited to the Citi Open for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet and play with the world’s best tennis players in a clinic hosted by Coach Wayne Bryan, father and former coach of the greatest doubles team in history, the Bryan brothers. Tickets for this event include the clinic, a tournament poster, and a seat for the Wednesday matches.

McCormick Chef Challenge Thursday, Aug. 1  Matches begin2:00 p.m., event begins 6:00 p.m.
The Citi Open is hosting a premier cooking competition featuring Bravo's Top Chef finalist and ABC’s The Chew co-host, Carla Hall; Bravo’s Top Chef competitor and owner of Belga Café and B Too, Bart Vandaele; and defending champion and owner of Taco Bamba and Del Campo, Victor Albisu. Tickets include admission to the event with seated dinner featuring the chefs’ creations and drinks, plus a reserved seat at the Thursday matches.

“Game, Set, Lunch!” Ladies Day Presented by Celebrity Cruises Friday, Aug. 2 Registration opens 9:00 a.m., matches begin 1:00 p.m.
This inaugural event will kick off with a morning tennis clinic led by Coach Wayne Bryan, father and former coach of the world No. 1 doubles team Mike and Bob Bryan, and local United States Tennis Professional Association (USPTA) pros. After the clinic, cool off and relax over a catered lunch in the air-conditioned hospitality tent. Tickets include a reserved seat for the Friday afternoon semifinal matches.

Epic Cellars Wine Tasting Presented by Celebrity Cruises Friday, Aug. 2 Event begins 6:00 p.m., matches begin 7:00 p.m.
Learn the art of food and wine pairings, discover a new favorite, and enjoy a special tasting of the tournament's signature wine from Epic Cellars. Indulge in Celebrity Cruises’ signature onboard hors d’ouevres—chocolate-covered strawberries and mouth-watering prosciutto appetizers. Tickets include a reserved seat for the Friday evening semifinal matches.

Celebrity Cruises Box Holder Appreciation Presented by Lexus –Saturday, Aug. 3 – Event begins 5:00 p.m.
This annual event is open to week-long box seat holders and their guests to show our appreciation for their support of the tournament. This reception offers complimentary food and beverage as well as a timely discussion from notable panelists.
