Bella Bethesda has its sights on sharing the love this Valentine's Day with those less fortunate and will kick off its “Cut It For a Cause” campaign on February 12. This year marks the fourth annual celebration of the week-long event to benefit Locks of Love. The salon welcomes those who are able to give at least 10 inches of hair, to visit the salon throughout the week to make their donation and in exchange receive a complimentary cut and blow dry. Those interested in helping a child in need, but aren’t yet ready to donate can still participate (and receive a free cut!) by visiting the salon to sign the pledge board and donate later this year.
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. Locks of Love helps to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.
