Washington National Cathedral presents “A Call to Compassion" this Weekend


September 9, 10, and 11, Washington National Cathedral presents “A Call to Compassion,” a three-day series of events to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. These events include a “Concert to Honor” featuring Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, the Marine Corps Chamber Orchestra and United States Navy Band Sea Chanters on Friday, September 9, feature a community day with “A Concert to Heal” with performances by local artists Sweet Honey in the Rock and others, and culminate with “A Concert for Hope” Sunday, September 11, which includes remarks from President Barack Obama, and performances by country star Alan Jackson, R&B legend Patti LaBelle and renowned mezzo soprano Denyce Graves.
