Photo Day at the Newseum this Saturday

On Saturday, April 30 at 11 a.m. take your date (or the family) to the Newseum for a fun-filled Photo Day. Check out the full list of events below.

Pictures of the Year International Lecture Series: 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon
Documentary Theater, Concourse Level
Get a behind-the-lens look at the events, issues and people who shaped our world in 2010 from the photojournalists who captured these unforgettable moments.

Steve Winter, Global Vision Award: 10 a.m.
Freelance photographer Steve Winter chronicled the efforts of park rangers to protect endangered big-game wildlife from poachers in the shrinking wilderness of India's Kaziranga National Park. Winter's winning photo essay ran in National Geographic magazine.

Damon Winter, Newspaper Photographer of the Year: 11 a.m.
New York Times staff photographer Damon Winter was on the front lines of two of the year's biggest stories: the war in Afghanistan and the earthquake in Haiti. In 2009, he won the Pulitzer Prize for feature photography for his coverage of Barack Obama's presidential campaign.

Adrees Latif, Freelance/Agency Photographer of the Year: Noon
Adrees Latif, chief photographer in Pakistan for the Reuters news agency, documented the floods that displaced 4 million Pakistanis in the summer of 2010, as well as conflicts in other countries. In 2008, he received a Pulitzer Prize for his dramatic image of a Japanese photographer killed by troops in Myanmar.

Come explore the collection of notable Washington, D.C., photographer William Fall. Browse some of his photographs and see the equipment he used to capture presidents, politicians and important events in the nation's capital from 1905 to 1945.
