DC Charity Spotlight: Class Acts Arts

Class Acts Arts brings interactive performances, workshops and residencies representing a broad range of artistic disciplines and cultural traditions into the community to strengthen education, stimulate creative self-expression, and inspire a fresh view of the world. Class Acts Arts serves children, youth and families in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia.

They provide innovative and affordable performances, workshops and residencies for schools, communities and organizations throughout Maryland, Washington, DC and northern Virginia. Class Acts Arts seeks to ensure the availability of the arts to everyone, including those with limited access, by raising funds to bring programs to low-income schools, seniors and adults with disabilities.

Join Class Acts Arts artists Shizumi and Robert Kikuchi-Yngojo on Thursday, May 5th @ 7:00 p.m. and experience an authentic Japanese tea ceremony and stories from the East. Only 20 tickets available. To find out more and purchase tickets CLICK HERE. Tickets are $50.

The Way of Tea is part of Class Acts Arts' new Salon Series, a series of art happenings in intimate settings. The Way of Tea is sponsored by Barefoot Wines and Bubbly.

Step into a Japanese tea salon and experience the magic and mystery of an authentic tea ceremony. Japanese multidisciplinary artist Shizumi Shigeto Manale (recipient of the 2010 Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County Outstanding Artist Award) will perform in kimono this timeless and spiritual artform. Below the salon visitors will delight in tales from the East from renowned storyteller Robert Kikuchi-Yngojo while feasting on Robert's famous Adobo chicken. The event will be held at Shizumi's home, where the rain garden was profiled in the Washington Post.
