VASTU welcomes artists Joel Traylor and Greg Minah to their 14th Street store and gallery

Vastu is pleased to welcome Joel Traylor for another show. Joel continues an evolving experiment in optical experience. Each artwork is made by cutting and reassembling two paintings into hypnotic form. The viewer is invited to unfocus the eyes, clear the mind, and drift with the cosmic frequencies.

Greg Minah experiments with the application and manipulation of acrylic paint to control the flow of the medium and “draw,” so to speak, by tilting and turning the canvas. This creates an overall harmony and choreography in the composition since each application of paint follows the same path and is affected by the same series of movements. By adding and removing layers over time, the artist is left with something — a shape, a line, a color — that grabs attention and informs his next series of decisions. The significance of the painting is always fluid and its meaning relies entirely on the encounter with the viewer.

Stop by their 14th Street location today to preview their newest works.
