My Picks for the Friday Night Halloween Kick-Off.

Andrew Wodzianski’s House Party at Flashpoint Gallery

9 p.m. – 12 a.m.
Tickets:
$20 in advance if you buy online, or $25 at the door

Andrew Wodzianski’s paintings lift imagery from William Castle’s b-movie horror flick from 1959, "House on Haunted Hill." While a painting exhibition in its own right, House will also incorporate the gimmickry and audience participation for which director Castle was legendary. Wodzianski’s will begin a scavenger hunt on October 8. Throughout the month, the artist will release a series of five clues via Twitter (twitter.com/househuntdc). Five people will ultimately have the chance to win a painting from the exhibition.

On Friday, October 30, a costume party will be held in conjunction with the exhibition. Don your best costume, get down with DJs Sharkey & Smudge and sip on non-stop PBR at House Party.
