The Washington National Opera's Season Begins and Save the Date for the WNO Costume Sale!

Washington National Opera - Placido Domingo, General Director

Under the stewardship of General Director Plácido Domingo, Washington National Opera continues to move confidently forward on a great adventure that began when the company was founded in 1956. They have an amazing line-up for the Fall season beginning with "An Evening with Olga and Ildar", followed by “Falstaff” and “Ariadne auf Naxos.” Tickets are $25 to $140 for Olga and Illdar and $50 to $300 for Falstaff. Think you won’t fit or can't afford a night at the opera? Think again! Join a the new generation of opera fans by at Generation O. This program provides specially subsidized tickets to their season performances. If you’re a student or young professional between the ages of 18 and 35, Generation O opens the door to the best programming Washington National Opera has to offer. Registration is FREE HERE. Tickets for Olga and Ildar for Generation O Members are $25 to $50.

Last seen together in WNO's production of L'Italiana in Algeri, Russian superstars Olga Borodina and Ildar Abdrazakov share the stage again for a concert performance at the Kennedy Center. Plácido Domingo conducts the husband and wife duo in a romantic evening of Russian, Italian and French opera arias, featuring the WNO Orchestra.

Step in to Washington National Opera’s Closet for a Costume and Prop Sale
October 17 – 18, 2009
10:00 AM – to 5:00 PM

Just in time for Halloween, WNO’s Costume Studio is opening up its closet doors for the first time in six years. This unique opportunity will showcase over 1,000 costumes featuring some of the top opera designers. All are welcome; don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to own a piece of WNO history. Most complete costume sets range from $50-$200. A fitting area will be available to try on items at the studio. Personal shoppers will be on hand to answer any questions or to help put together outfits and accessorize. Cash, check and credit cards are accepted. All sales are final.

The costume sale will take place in Rehearsal Room C (3rd floor) of the WNO Studio in Takoma Park. The studio is located at 6925 Willow St, N.W., Washington, D.C. Street parking is available or take Metro’s Red Line to Takoma station – turn left onto Carroll St., take a slight right at Eastern Ave, then a right onto Willow St. WNO Studio is on the left.
