Save the Date for the Pediatric AIDS/HIV Care's annual For the Children Event Coming this October

Save the Date for the Pediatric AIDS/HIV Care's annual For the Children Event.

DC has an alarming HIV rate of 3% and while prevention is an important part of reducing this epidemic we must also consider those already living with this disease. While much focus is on preventing the spread of HIV in our young people there is often little talk regarding those young people already infected. Pediatric AIDS/HIV Care is the only organization in the District dedicated to working with infected young people and their families. With new treatments those with HIV/AIDS are living healthier and longer lives and for children and adolescents this has brought new challenges and opportunities. We all know that navigating adolescence is difficult enough and for children living with HIV/AIDS this is compounded by a chronic disease, stigma, and uncertainty for their future and often the future of their loved ones.

Through programming such as the creative arts, individual, family and group counseling, family support and case management, summer camp, and recreation activities Pediatric AIDS/HIV Care supports the needs of children and their families living with HIV.

Please join us for an evening out to support this organization and the great work that they do. This year, the kids that participate in Pediatric AIDS/HIV Care's after school program will create a documentary about their experiences in Washington, D.C. They'll be screening it at this event.
