Monday Check Out N'dambi @ Bus Boys and Poets

LiL SoSo Productions (LSP) and Smirnoff have partnered to bring Washingtonians the "Be YOU" music series. Featuring two of LSP's signature events, "Soul Overdose" and "In the Artist's Studio", the series will run from July-November with monthly events featuring independent artists in some of DC's most interesting venues.

The August In the Artists Studio”, at BUSBOYS & POETS 2021 14th Street, NW-WDC features Stax recording artist N'dambi. Hear her HERE. This soulful songstress is most recognizable for her work as background singer and co-writer on Erykah’s Badu’s Baduizm and Mama’s Gun albums. Aided by her recognition and accolades while performing with Ms. Badu, N'dambi has created her own stylistic turf by independently releasing her critically-acclaimed debut album, Little Girl Blues , her sophomore project, Tunin Up & Cosign and the Japanese release A Weird Kinda Wonderful. All albums received international recognition resulting high profile publicity and performances throughout the United States, Japan, Europe and Africa. Her debut Stax project Pink Elephant will be released in Fall 2009.

"In the Artist's Studio" features artists from various musical genres performing and discussing in an intimate setting. The event offers attendees a full experience that is one part performance, and one part live interview conducted by "Going out Guru" Rhome Anderson of washingtonpost.com. In each edition, the featured artists not only shares her or his story, but also offers insight into what it means to be an independent artist in the 21st century.

Doors open at 9 p.m. and admission is $10 $8 w/ "Be YOU" jump drive (See Discount Code for advance ticket purchase).
