This Saturday Venture to the 24th Annual Commonwealth Cup of Polo and The Wine Festival at The Plains with DC This Week

Join me on Saturday at the Great Meadow Equestrian Center, just west of Washington DC, where two of Virginia’s favorite pastimes, polo and Virginia wine, will join forces for the Commonwealth Cup. I have a smart outfit planned for this event and I can't wait to spend a day at the polo field with my girlfriends.

DC This Week readers receive $10 off their ticket purchase by entering DC913 at checkout making your advance ticket only $25 for both days.

Now in it's 24th year, The Commonwealth Cup is the oldest and, aficionados concede, the most highly attended polo match in the country, typically attracting more spectators than the U.S. Polo Open. In this annual challenge, the US Military Combined Services Polo Team square off against an elite team of Brits from the British Combined Services for a key benefit match.

Discover some of the wines that rarely make it out of tasting rooms as select Virginia wineries showcase over 250 award-winning wines produced in "America's most promising, emerging wine region".

The Commonwealth Cup is a key fund-raising event. Proceeds from the event provide funding for the Great Meadow Foundation and projects that support British and American servicemen and women all over the world, including the morale-boosting USO shows and Wounded Warrior initiatives that honor and empower our national heros.
