A great place to get out of the hustle and the bustle of the District during Inauguration week, 2941, from January 6 through January 31 is offering a three-course bar tasting menu priced at $44 per person, in honor of President-elect Barack Obama, who will be sworn in as the 44th President of the United States on January 20. Executive Chef Bertrand Chemel’s bar tasting menu will be available seven nights a week in the bar and lounge of the restaurant. While he plans to change the menu frequently, guests can expect dishes such as Chilean Turbot, with green lentils, lettuce emulsion and celery, and Roasted Squab Breast with rice, poached egg, frisée and salmis jus. Pastry Chef Anthony Chavez will debut some equally elegant desserts on this bar menu, such as a Coffee Moelleux, with crème anglais and vanilla chip ice cream.
Sommelier Stefano Cappelli is getting into the inaugural spirit as well, offering eight bottles of wine priced at $44 each during the month of January. With four reds and four whites from which to choose, guests can enjoy affordably priced selections, such as an unoaked 2006 Pellegrini Family Russian River Valley Chardonnay, or a 2000 Chateau La Cardonne Cru Bourgeois.
