Books to furnish your house will be in abundant supply as the National Press Club rounds out its Centennial year with its annual Book Fair. In addition to Roger Mudd and other authors above, the Club's Ballroom will feature Kerry Kennedy, Senator Mel Martinez, sports author William Nack, Russell Baker and Jim Wooten. (featuring the work of their friend and colleague, the late David Halberstam), James Reston, Jr., professional wrestler Bret Hart, former "Dukes of Hazzard" star and former Rep. Ben Jones, bestselling authors Stephen Coonts and Eleanor Herman, renowned artist Wendell Minor (who designs David McCullough's book covers), Loretta and Linda Sanchez (the first-ever sisters in the House of Representatives), Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Senator Jim DeMint, celebrity chefs including Bon Appetit editor-in-chief Barbara Fairchild, Kennedy family chef Neil Connolly, and "Made in Spain" star José Andrés, for a total of more than 90 great authors.
A cash bar will be open offering alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Some of the historical authors will be dressed in period costume. If you come straight from work, don't stop for dinner - their cookbook authors will offer free tasting portions of their favorite recipes.
