DC Charity Spotlight - Capital Area Food Bank - SKIP LUNCH FEED A BUNCH this Wednesday

1 in 3 people missed a meal today in the Washington, D.C. metro area

The Capital Area Food Bank is asking the community to donate the equivalent of what you normally spend on lunch to the food bank on this one day - Wednesday, September 17.

Here's how to get involved in this one day initiative! It's as easy as 1,2,3...

1) Appoint a Hunger Champion or representative in your office to register your company, organization, group or university as a team, motivate employees or students to particpate and hand out promotional materials.

***Individuals may donate independently and do not need to belong to a team.

2) Participants will donate online. You may also mail a check to Capital Area Food Bank, Skip Lunch, 645 Taylor Street, NE, Washington, DC 20017. Please specify "Skip Lunch" and indicate your team name, if applicable.

3) There will be prizes for the team(s) and Hunger Champions that generate the most revenue:
-The top-earning team will be featured on Fox 5's Morning News with the CAFB
-A "Thank You" public service annoucement on Fox 5 for the top 5 teams
-A "Thank You" ad in the Washington Post for the top 10 teams
-A $25 Whole Foods gift card for the 10 top-earning Hunger Champions

***Team contributions made by midnight on September 17 will be included in team totals. Mailed donations must be postmarked by September 17 to be included.

The winners will be announced on October 1, 2008!

Every $1 raised can provide 3 meals to children, seniors and families at risk of hunger.

$5 provides 15 meals
$10 provides 30 meals
$25 provides 75 meals
