WTF? Edible gold leaf rules the list of world's priciest foods

Forget the $12,000 Knish, $1,000 ice cream sundae, White truffles, Caviar, and Saffron. According to a recent list compiled by Fortune Small Business, a magazine part of the media conglomerate CNN-Time Warner group, world’s most expensive food is Edible gold leaf. The edible gold leaf comes with a price tag of $15,000 per pound. Very much like calcium and iron, gold is safe to eat. People usually add gold sprinkles to glasses of Champagne or signature martinis for parties. The piece tag looks hefty in terms of pounds, but a small shaker of 23K gold sprinkles (80 mg) costs just $30 while packs of 25 small sheets of gold leaf retail for $75. Second place in the lists of world’s priciest foods goes to white truffles which cost $6,000 a pound and caviar is on the third place at $1,500 a pound. Thanks to Born Rich for the skinny.
