Washington Flyer has the skinny on local DC restaurants that are celebrating the Olympics by offering some DCers a few specials. Ping by Charlie Chiang's, The Source, TenPenh and Topaz Bar are going for the Gold.
- At Ping by Charlie Chiang's (4060 Campbell Ave., Arlington, Va.; 703/671-4900), taste any of the eight entrees for $8 each from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday. Or dig into the Pentathlon, a prix-fixe five-course menu, through the 24th.
- The Source (575 Pennsylvania Ave., NW; 202/637-6100; www.wolfgangpuck.com) is cooking Beijing favorites for a three-course menu, available in the dining room during the day and in the lounge (in front of the flat screens) in the evening.
- Kick off the Games with a flaming Olympic Torch cocktail, followed by a bronze (two-course), silver (three-course) or gold (with wine pairings) Chinese-inspired menu at TenPenh (1001 Pennsylvania Ave., NW; 202/393-4500; www.tenpenh.com).
- Topaz Bar (1733 N St., NW; 202/393-3000; www.topazhotel.com) celebrates the Games with a cocktail hour of Olympic proportions. Any time the U.S. wins the gold, those in the bar win, too, with half-priced drinks. Try any drink off the Go for Gold menu, with bronze-, silver- or gold-medal specialties.
