Many thanks to Washington Flyer for the skinny. Hit Virginia and D.C. stores this weekend for tax-free shopping. For three days, certain school supplies, clothing and footwear will be exempt from Virginia sales tax. Each eligible clothing item must be $100 or less. The District (www.dc.gov) will also offer an exemption from the 5.75% sales tax for clothing and shoes on items costing $100 or less Saturday through the following Sunday, Aug. 10.
