Hook Restaurant and Executive Chef Barton Seaver has been awarded the prestigious 2008 Seafood Choices Alliance Champion Award held in conjunction with the Boston International Seafood Show.
Now in it's third year, the Seafood Champion Award is given to those individuals and companies who exhibit outstanding leadership in promoting environmentally responsible seafood, and demonstrate a commitment to advancing the marketplace for ocean-friendly seafood. This past year, Chef Seaver and Hook have convincingly accomplished both.Pure Hospitality, Hook’s parent company, is part of a new breed of environmentalism seeking to create solutions by offering its guests an exceptional dining experience that also has an environmental conscience.
As an example of their efforts, Hook and Seaver have begun sourcing from West African fishermen. By using his spending power, Seaver is helping create a market for their sustainable products here in America, enabling sustainable development in their communities, as well as providing guests with a unique cuisine.
The Seafood Choices Alliance is an international association focused on making the seafood marketplace environmentally and economically sustainable.
