On Sunday December 9th, 2007 at 5pm, - The Women’s Federation for World Peace, DC will host its 2nd annual fashion for World Peace Event at The Washington Times Arbor Ballroom, benefiting the Schools of Africa Project.
Fashion for World Peace supports the woman’s role in creating global peace and unity.Through collective efforts around the country, WFWP has raised a total of $140,000 towards their ultimate goal of one million dollars. Last year’s proceeds benefited the Schools of Africa Project by providing financial assistance and scholarship grants for schools established by WFWP in Mozambique, Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea. The 2nd Annual Fashion for World Peace Event will feature a unique silent auction; Ambassador for Peace awards- recognizing Carol Schwartz, At-Large City Council member and Congresswoman Diane E. Watson, California’s 33rd District of the United States House of Representatives; who both have contributed to peace building, education and human rights for women and children. In addition, the event will showcase the international and high-fashions of Washington, DC’s most renowned fashion designers- Alek Risminic Couture, Estella Couture-Nigeria, D-Maxsi Studios-Ghana, Lenny Yorke, Magnami Style & Co, and Shaka King.
