Poste Moderne Brasserie is Chinatown’s signature “green” restaurant. They have incredible organic treats offered by Chef Robert Welend including steak frites (pineland farms hanger steak, bordelaise sauce, caramelized shallots), the zucchini blossom which is a yummy cheese filled creation, and pan roasted organic chicken served with a buckwheat crepe. Housed in what looks like a modern greenhouse, Poste is home to one of the cities largest organic restaurant gardens where a variety of seasonal veggies are grown. The place also infuses its own vodka and the bar menu features the tasty Herbal Martini. I suggest stopping in from 4 to 7 pm for their $4 happy hour that features a great selection of beers, wines and their signature truffle frites at a bargain.

This holiday Season at Poste Moderne Brasserie is sweet! The National Building Museum hosts a Gingerbread house workshop in which participants bring their creations to Poste Moderne Brasserie to be entered in the restaurant’s annual Gingerbread House contest. Participants will receive a coupon for a free mug of house made eggnog upon their arrival with their masterpiece.

Entries will be accepted beginning Monday December 10^th. Ballots will be tallied at noon on Christmas Eve with winners announced at 2:00 PM that afternoon.

Along with each house participants should include: name, address, telephone number, email address and name of their creation. Contestants do not need to be present to claim their prize-- they will be notified by phone and winnings will be sent directly to them, fittingly, through the US post office.

Prizes include:

1st Place--One night stay at The Hotel Monaco, with a $100 gift certificate for Poste Moderne Brasserie

2nd Place --One night stay at The Madera, with a $100 gift certificate for Firefly restaurant

3rd Place--One night stay at The Hotel Helix, with a $75.00 gift certificate to Urbana restaurant
